    Divinity: Dragon Commander

    Larian Studio je najavio treću igru u Divinity settingu. Za sada se ne zna previše detalja, više tijekom GamesCona.

    A turn-based strategy-cum-RPG, it’s of course set in the Divinity universe – although within what they’re calling an “Art Nouveau/Steampunk world” – and they’re promising it will “break new ground”. You can see the first video of it below.

    “We’ve been dreaming about a project like this for many years, and fresh from the success of our latest game we realized that there is nothing that holds us back any longer. The new game blends together our favorite genres and themes, something that is not easy – but the resulting gameplay experience is very rewarding, and it’s also a lot of fun to make. We have role-playing, we have strategy, we have exploration… and we have plenty of dragons. We also feel that we have finally discovered how dragon combat can work well in a game. We’re pretty much breaking new ground here, and we’re very much determined to surprise the players with what we’ll offer in this game!”

    Ovo je nešto što bi jako volio zaigrat. Divinity 2 je jedna igra koja me je iznenadila svojom kvalitetom, pa se tako veselim svakom novom igri ovog studia.

    In the presentation we started at the main ship, which is your hub throughout the game. In this hub there are several people living you can interact with and each of them has their own story arc. The game plays in turns and after each turn you have to make your decisions about a lot of things, both complicated and simple. Decisions about who to romance, what strategy to follow, what to research, who to fight and many other things.

    So this is like a prequel?

    Yeah, it tells about the early history of Divinity, about the first kingdom. So, this is the Raven, this is your capital ship, on board of which you will take many decisions. The idea of the game is that you are the Dragon Commander, so you can’t say whether this is an RPG, or action, or a strategy game, this is really a bit of everything and the goal is actually that you feel like the commander, the emperor, you make political decisions, ethical decisions, tactical and strategically decisions..

    Here’s a break-down of what it cost us to make the Dragon Knight Saga

    4M € employees
    900K€ freelancers
    270K€ outsourcing of artwork
    200K€ hardware
    700K€ software licenses
    400K€ localisation

    for a total of 6,5M€. That’s a lot of money and as the Dragon Knight Saga was released via co-publishing deals , it also meant that we needed to take care of the majority of this investment ourselves, since the publishers only contributed partially to the funding.

    Vrlo zanimljiv blog i vrlo zanimljiv pogled na stvari. Nadam se da bude Lar i ekipa iz Lariana uspjela napraviti "very big RPG that will dwarf them all" u skoroj budućnosti.

    I actually always wanted to have deep integration of choice & consequence in our games, but for some reason (well actually a whole list of reasons), we never managed to do it correctly. So this time, we made sure from day 1 that this wasn't going to happen again, and we made the choice & consequence mechanics so fundamental to the game, that we don't have any err... choice in the matter. We also took our time to prepare the implementation of this properly, an advantage of the self-funded development approach.

    Dragon Commander consists of multiple stages of play, each one appearing to be well crafted. From the player's main airship, the Raven, various political and social activities can be undertaken. Advisers will suggest new courses of action, which can be followed or ignored at will, and ambassadors from other kingdoms can appear to offer various alliances. A princess from one of the kingdoms can be married and visited in the bedroom for advice, and each marriage will affect the realm in various ways. In the demo, the player divorced his elven bride and married a dwarven one, causing various provinces to rise up in rebellion but gaining the trust of the dwarf faction.

    Q: How well will dragon commander fit in Divinity universe and it's timeline? Will buildings, towns, cities, fortresses be on land? (google translator. English is not my native language, sorry) How advanced enemy Ai will be? Will land and water units make game developing longer? When demo will be ready? How big will maps be, are they all going to be this same size or varied? Will game be moddable?

    It’s long in the past, at the time Maxos was roaming around Rivellon. Yes, land and sea units had an impact on development, but a good one. The demo should be ready around the time the main game is ready. Maps are in general large and varied. Modding is something we’re looking into.

I’ve seen this myself – I mean, this one [Original Sin]Sis made for me and my girlfriend, because we were playing Dark Alliance and I said “ah, I like the fact that I am playing together with you, but there’s nothing to do. It’s just hacking and slashing,” and so from there came Original Sin. If I like it, and he likes it [points to imaginary co-developer, not his girlfriend], then there are probably other gamers who will like it too.

    Pratil sam na Twitchu kad je bil stream i ljudi su masovno svršavali u komentarima kad je počelo napucavanje u ovom RTS dijelu.
    Larian bude nakon ovoga i Original Sina postal malo žešči igrač na tržištu.

    Igra je izašla i stavili su novi trailer povodom toga. Vidim da dobija sve neke 8-9 ocjene, je li probao tko?

    Igrao malo, spoj rts-a i turnova, nije skroz loše samo je rts dio malo hladno odrađen. Nije me neš pretjerano privuklo...

    Igrao sam demo. RTS dio je ispao malo šlampav, ali igra je zanimljiva mješavina žanrova inače.
